New Year, Let's Make It a Happy One
I'll let this be brief. I don't want to clog the internet's plumbing with too much more Happy New Year's Hoopla. But I would like to say a couple things.
Thing 1 - I would normally say that I don't want to make any new year's resolutions because it seems like a a shallow attempt that shallow people make to not appear so shallow. One new year's resolution I'm making is to not care so much of what this world thinks of me, but rather with the King of this world and the next thinks. He knows what's best for me, anyhow. Why settle for a TV ad's advice when you can listen to a doctor? Terrible metaphor, I know. Don't judge me on that one. Or, go ahead, I'll try not care...sort of. You get the idea. Also, not judging, that's a good one, too. Let's add that to the list (of two, so far). Here's a start. Instead of not making resolutions on account of the shallow people, how about I see that I, too, am shallow and try to improve that (maybe by making a couple new year's resolutions).
Thing 2 - Tonight some friends of mine and I were joking of the seeming stupidity of new year's resolutions and chose to go with new year's revolutions instead. We all picked countries we'd revolutionize; it was great. That's not such a bad idea, though. Let's try to affect the world around us rather than just ourselves this year, and the next, and so on and so forth.
Postscript (PS): I guess I'm starting this new year with not actually going to bed until after three and almost forgetting about brushing my teeth as I longingly think about dreamland. It's time for me to sleep (and brush my teeth). Happy New Year (let's make it happy).
